Every Edged data center is outfitted with the ThermalWorks ultra-efficient, breakthrough cooling technology built for high-density AI workloads while consuming zero water
TALLAHASSEE, FL (October 24, 2024) – ThermalWorks, the first ultra-efficient, high-density waterless cooling platform for the fast-changing data center industry, was presented with the 2024 EnVisioneer of the Year Award in the System Integrator category during a ceremony on October 22 in Tallahassee, Florida. Since its founding, ThermalWorks has worked to revolutionize what is possible in data center cooling, proving that waterless systems can deliver industry-leading energy efficiency and support the demands of AI and advanced compute. The company’s latest breakthrough technology is a fully integrated rooftop chiller unit that is optimized for high-density workloads and reduces energy consumption by 20-30%.
The ceremony was attended by leadership from ThermalWorks and Danfoss. ThermalWorks is currently shipping its modular, fully integrated cooling system to Edged data centers across Europe and North America. The new rooftop unit is expected to begin shipping next year.
“We are truly honored to receive the Envisioneer of the Year award from Danfoss. This recognition is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability. Our rooftop cooling unit was designed to meet the evolving demands of AI and the broader needs of our customers. We are proud to partner with Danfoss, whose vision for a more sustainable future aligns so closely with our own, and we look forward to continuing to transform the future of cooling infrastructure,” said John Costakis, Chief Executive Officer of ThermalWorks.
Known as the ThermalWorks C250 Packaged Rooftop Unit, the breakthrough chiller is paired with a dedicated outdoor air system and delivers immediate energy efficiency improvement and infrastructure optimization that dramatically lowers operating costs and advances sustainable leadership. The critical cooling unit consumes 20-30% less energy compared to traditional systems and is built for resilience. The fully modular unit uses Danfoss Turbocor® TGS 230 compressors, which are lightweight and completely oil-free, along with Danfoss valves, economizers, actuators, sight glass and filter driers. The result is predictable, long-term performance.
“Danfoss Turbocor oil-free and magnetic-bearing compressors have been a game-changer for the HVAC industry since they were developed,” said Ricardo Schneider, president of Danfoss Turbocor. “As pressure builds to develop more sustainable data center cooling technologies, original equipment manufacturers like ThermalWorks are using Turbocor compressors to create innovative solutions for critical infrastructure that achieve significant environmental savings. We are proud to recognize ThermalWorks with this award.”
ThermalWorks waterless cooling systems are being deployed in more than a dozen data centers currently operational or under construction worldwide.
